A Bit of History about Deaf World

Inside the Deaf world, a Deaf person feels at home when the one shared language is American Sign Language (ASL). Gallaudet University, a unique liberal arts college, in Washington D.C., is such a place. Gallaudet is a world famous university for the deaf and hard of hearing. A historical event called “Deaf President Now (DPN) Movement” in the 1990’s occurred at this university. During this time, many people for the first time, heard about the Deaf community and their culture. Many Deaf and hard of hearing people want to keep their Deaf culture alive, therefore preserving Gallaudet University is essential.

  2. I love how you chose a place is personal to you. I also like you how conveyed the importance of the school, and I like how you added a picture of the school!

I think you could have related the school to yourself better, rather than only talk about the school.

This was really educational and I want to thank you for allowing me to read this!

  3. I took ASL 1 and 2 in 9th grade, and really enjoyed it! My sophomore year of high school, I got to go on a field trip to Gallaudet University, and it was fascinating to be surrounded by deaf culture. I understand why Gallaudet is so important - it is a place where deaf people can feel at home because everyone is speaking the same language. I agree with Kevin, in that you could have made the school a little more personal to yourself, but I did get a good sense of why it is so vital to society.

  5. I like your personal connection to this post. You convey the meaning of having a school for the deaf, and I believe this is important to many.

I would say that to improve this, you could maybe put in some citations for the DPN movement, to let the reader explore more of what this movement was about. Overall, nice job!

  6. I liked how you showed us why it was important by using many great examples from the past and the present.

You could describe the University a bit more. Other than that great job.
